Suzuki has claimed the top podium position in an independent industry assessment of customer ratings for new cars in 2018, scoring five stars for reliability, value for money and overall satisfaction.

Leading independent research and ratings agency, Canstar Blue said Suzuki also also earned four stars for driving experience, point of sale service and car servicing.

The win also gave Suzuki the title of having the 'Most Satisfied Customers - Small Car' for the third year in a row.

More than 2,300 Australian motorists took part in survey undertaken by Canstar which is focused on educating and helping consumers to make better financial decisions.

For this year's survey, Canstar rated 15 different car brands.

Suzuki swept past Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen which all scored four stars for overall satisfaction; as well as Audi, BMW, Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Subaru which all scored just three stars for overall satisfaction, according to the report.

As well as identifying which car brands are rated highest in Australia, Canstar also asked motorists to vote for the biggest factors in their purchasing decisions.

They rated, in order from highest:

  • Price
  • Style (design and color)
  • Running costs
  • Lifestyle
  • Safety rating and features
  • Size

The results come from customers who have purchased a brand new car from a dealership in the last three years.

Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included.
