Throwing it back to The Swarm 2024, when we had an awesome chat with Trent and got the full scoop on his JB43 – Jimboslice. He took us through how he built it from the ground up, and how it got out of hand in the best way possible!
Trent’s loves a Suzuki project, and his passion for his build is clear. With the Suzuki community, it’s not just about the cars, but about connecting with others who share that same love for these cars.
JIMFLUENCER CORNER
Ty, the guy behind OffRoadChef, has been in the cheffing industry for over 13 years and loves nothing more than camping and cooking over open fire. He doesn’t have an official nickhame from his Jimny, but he always calls it his “little mountain goat” since it can go just about anywhere! His most memorable trip was his first camping adventure with his Jimny and his cousins at Boyne Island, where the weekend was filled with great vibes and an amazing cook-up that still makes his mouth water. While he’s proud of his own rig, he thinks the little rig is the most drool-worthy – a lil weapon! A drive through the Victoria High Country and the top end is high on his bucket list. But if you’re looking for a local off-road recommendation, Ty suggests Kinkuna National Park near Bundaberg. The drive in is a lot of fun with some big bog holes and fun beach tracks, and you can’t go wrong with the campsites along the beach (they’re all great!), awesome fishing, and swimming in the creeks.
JIMNY ACCESSORIES
The front grille is one of the first things you notice on a car, so simple changes have a big impact. Swapping out the stock grille is an easy way to give your Zook a fresh, unique style! It’s a quick mod that can totally change up the front end of your Jimny and give it a special edition feel. Plus, if you’re after that retro look, a new grille can add a nostalgic vibe to your Jimny, making it stand out even more.

Zylah is an adventure seeker who enjoys exploring new places and relaxing by the seaside. At the weekend, you’ll find her off-roading in her Jimny, Avo. Her favourite memory in the Jimny was the annual JB74 weekend at the Spring 4×4 Park, as she enjoys meeting like-minded Jimny lovers who can’t say no to an adventure! She’s inspired by impressive Jimny builds like JelyRoll. Her local off-road recommendation is the Byfield – Five Rocks track, it’s got amazing views and plenty of off-road excitement!
JIMNY EDUCATION
And here’s the heart of the matter when it comes to four-wheel-drive systems … the Jimny has a part-time 4WD system with three modes: The first is two-wheel-drive-high-range (2H) which delivers better fuel economy and enhanced cornering on paved roads. The second is four-wheel-drive-high (4H) which provides extra grip needed for off-road use – primarily slippery surfaces like snow and sand.
The third mode is four-wheel-drive-Low (4L) which uses a transfer gear to deliver even more torque at low speeds enabling the Jimny to climb very steep hills and traverse rugged terrain. The shift lever provides the driver with a better feel than dash-mounted buttons used on the previous Jimny. It also eliminates the chance of a selection button malfunctioning due to spilt drinks or dust ingress. Bottom line: Two gear levers – true four wheel-drive.
JIMNY’S “MINI ME”
We just love seeing the creative photos people take of their Jimnys. And this one at right which was published on Facebook, is a real pearler. The color-matching of the model with the ‘real thing’ along with the attention to detail in terms of tyres and roof racks, is a delight. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Jimny and “mini me” photos, but it certainly reflects a pride of ownership and an owner who is prepared to take things to a different level.
The Suzuki Jimny has of course spawned an entire catalogue of mini models in every scale you can imagine – from 1:12 through the standard 1:18s, 1:32s to the 1:40s.
