JB74 QLD Springs Weekend Recap

Throwback to the JB74 QLD Springs 4×4 Park Event! (30 May – 1 June 2025)

The gathering brought together 75 Jimnys and 110 people plus legends from generous sponsors: Suzuki Queensland, Fulcrum Suspension, Pirate Camp Co, and Solquest Campers.

Highlights included a campfire feast by Chef Ty (@offroadchef), varied group drives from easy to extreme, and plenty of bonding through challenges like the test track. Saturday night featured a charity raffle, stories by the fire, and shared laughs, raising $6,275 for The Children’s Hospital Foundation (bringing the group’s total donations to $17,032).

The event was all about good vibes — mates helping mates, swapping tips, and testing what their Jimnys could really do. Everyone left with new friends, plenty of laughs, and memories that’ll stick, with the JB74 QLD Jimny spirit shining brighter than ever.

(P.S. thanks for the photos Nikki @fluffy.the.jimny!)

Jimny 4WD vs 'soft' AWD at Moreton Bay

Jimny 4WD vs 'soft' AWD at Moreton Bay

Here’s the real life difference (left) between owning a ‘soft’ all-wheel-drive and owning a real four-wheel-drive. On the day the new five-door XL Jimny was launched on Moreton Island, a hopeful crew of folk attempted to take a soft, all-wheel-drive vehicle from another manufacturer on to the beach on Moreton Island.  However, the moment it hit the soft sand, it was game over. On the other hand, the new Jimny five door with its true four-wheel-drive capabilities had no soft sand issues at all. All-wheel-drive is a great concept and features on some models of the Suzuki Vitara. But extra traction in slippery conditions does not mean ‘unstoppable’ in soft sand. Your choice in selecting a true four-wheel-drive – the funkiest one on the market – means you probably won’t ever need to call on anyone else for help.

Meet @IrohTheJimny

Meet Martina – she bought her Jimny for highway cruising, but one ride with the Jimny Girls QLD and boom — off-road fever hit! Now she’s learning the ropes and sharing every “oops” and “aha!” on her channel to help fellow newbies. Her rig, General Iroh, has already taken her back to the beach for the first time in 10+ years — a moment she won’t forget. Dream drives? Springs Park is calling. And if you’re near Brisbane, she reckons Mt Mee is a must: think cute critters, a swim spot, scenic fun, and just enough challenge to keep things spicy! Recently, she helped run the Jimny Girls QLD Getaway at Janowen Hills, where the charity raffle raised over $3k for Support the Girls and Rise Up, all with the help of 20+ sponsors, including Suzuki Queensland. Oh, and check out her cool apparel line, Iroh’s Wardrobe (link in her Instagram bio)!

Rig Must-Haves

A front bumper garnish is a simple yet effective upgrade for your Jimny, adding a tougher, more customised look — something especially popular among Jimny enthusiasts. While adding more style, it also offers light protection against stone chips and scratches. Made from durable materials, it’s a great way to enhance your rig’s style without the cost of a full bumper replacement.
