And here’s the heart of the matter when it comes to four-wheel-drive systems … the Jimny has a part-time 4WD system with three modes: The first is two-wheel-drive-high-range (2H) which delivers better fuel economy and enhanced cornering on paved roads. The second is four-wheel-drive-high (4H) which provides extra grip needed for off-road use – primarily slippery surfaces like snow and sand.
While the timber-sided “woodie” has been a mark of American wagons since the 1920’s, we couldn’t help but notice the treatment one owner has applied to this Jimny. What originally began as timber-constructed wagon areas behind steel cabins, in the 1920’s, later morphed into style-sided fibreglass appliques to station wagons during the 1960’s.
Surfmania, including some catchy references in songs by the Beach Boys (look it up Millennials), helped drive the popularity of the woody. But clearly, it now has reached its zenith as the photo at left shows.
Sarah and Barry tied the knot on Woorim Beach, Bribie, at a dog-friendly access point—because their pup had to be part of the fun! Their beloved Jimny, Cookie, was right there too, turning heads as the couple cruised along the sand with their photographer and videographer in tow. Blessed with the only sunny day in weeks, the beach 4×4 adventure became one of the day’s most memorable moments, full of laughter and spontaneous shots. The backyard reception overflowed with homemade baked goods and woodfire pizzas, and after it all, Cookie carried them off on a rainy-but-magical Blue Mountains honeymoon road trip.
Learn more about Sarah and Barry (and Cookie) below.
Sarah and Barry (@cookie.the.jimny) love adventuring in their Jimny, Cookie, and exploring this beautiful place we call home. They love to camp, cook outdoors & explore with their adventure-loving dog (and a jealous cat that wishes she could joint too).
Their favourite memory in Cookie was their wedding photos just after the ceremony (obvi! – see the full detail above).
The most drool-worthy Jimny in their opinion is @toyzuki_4x4, they think it’s such a cool concept of a car!
On Sarah & Barry’s local bucket list is Blackdown Tableland National Park 4×4 Drive.
Their off-road rec is Booloumba Falls in Kenilworth! It’s an easy-moderate drive through Booloumba Creek and up through the forest to the car park with a 3km round trip to a beautiful swim hole at the base of one of the falls!
Emerald (@emerald_western) is a 22-year-old from Gladstone, QLD, who works full-time in Engineering. She loves a good laugh and keeps life balanced with camping trips, epic views and even better people. She has a soft spot for memories and knows she’ll remember every single one made in her Jimny.
She just calls her Jimny – Suzi, though her mates like to joke that it’s more of a chest freezer!
Emerald’s favourite memory in Suzi has to be Fraser Island — she loved how easy and capable the drive was, making the whole trip unforgettable.
The most drool-worthy Jimny in her opinion is definitely @the_little_rig, it’s simple, tough and done right.
On Emerald’s local bucket list is Five Rocks National Park. She loves the area but still hasn’t ticked it off (yet!).
Her off-road recs? Fraser Island is a must if you haven’t done it already, along with Eurimbula National Park!
We have an additional resolution for some of you too… stop overloading your roof!
Keep your roof light, and your adventures safer. Your roof isn’t a storage unit, piling too much weight up top might seem convenient, but it can upset handling, strain your vehicle, and even land you on the wrong side of the law. Enjoy the mud, sand, and trails, but let your roof breathe a little, and your ride will thank you.
When you buy a Jimny, you unknowingly become part of a community with some unspoken rules. And in 2026, we’ll be proudly continuing these rituals:
Carly is a beach lover who’s always chasing sun, sand, and surf, and her Jimny, “Sandy,” is her ultimate adventure companion. Together, they explore hidden coastal gems, scenic dunes, and untouched beaches for the perfect seaside escape.
Her most memorable experience was driving along a secluded beach at sunrise, with the waves crashing and the salty breeze filling the air, it felt like pure freedom.
For local off-roading, Carly recommends Fraser Coast. It is an off-roading paradise, with over 120km of sandy coastline, crystal-clear lakes, and lush rainforests. The iconic 75 Mile Beach doubles as a highway and airstrip, offering ocean views, river crossings, and access to highlights like the Maheno Shipwreck and Eli Creek—truly a bucket-list destination for any Jimny adventurer.
Let’s make it official. Chuck in your deets and join the tribe to get first access to awesome Jimny offers, free stuff, discounts, merch and more. You’ll be in with a grin.
