Suzuki Queensland’s latest brand ambassador, Sunshine Coast Lightning netballer Cara Koenen, says she has no issue fitting her 190cm frame into her new Swift Sport. “It is surprisingly roomy,” Koenen says of the Swift Sport. “I can attest to the fact there is plenty of legroom in the driver’s seat and headroom.”
Suzuki Queensland has signed Koenen before the launch of the 2024 National Netball Championships, which will commence in April and run through to August. Koenen has gathered some super-special sporting memorabilia for netball fans, which she is donating as prizes for upcoming Suzuki-sponsored brand activities. She has won back-to-back premierships in the Suncorp Super Netball (2017-18) as well as a place in the finals the following year, Commonwealth Games gold in 2022 with the Australian Diamonds, and also the Netball World Cup in 2023.
Koenen’s career achievements include starring in Aussie Rules football as a ruck (until a tackle delivered her a broken arm and retirement), athletics, gymnastics, swimming, and a host of other sports alongside her equally over-achieving siblings.
Her sister, Breanna Koenen, is captain of the Brisbane Lions Women’s team in AFLW; her other sister, Alyssa Koenen, was selected for the Australian team in the World Life-Saving Championships and her younger brother, Dirk Koenen, has carved himself out an AFL career in Victoria.
Her academic qualifications also provide clues to her recent Suzuki Queensland brand ambassador appointment. Koenen holds a Bachelor of Forensic Science, Criminology and Criminal Justice and is now undertaking a master’s in molecular imaging technology.
“Cara is a unique individual who excels across many fronts. That makes her the perfect fit with the Suzuki brand with vehicles that are unique in their market segments,” Suzuki Queensland marketing manager Jake Tobin says.
