Indian car content platform, CarToq is featuring a wildly reworked Jimny conversion (at right) with a makeover parts list that apparently costs around the same price as the car. Inspiration is the Mercedes G-Wagon which has formed the basis of a number of similar products. This one even includes some chassis modifications to accommodate the new bolt-on parts which includes grille, bonnet, fenders, headlamps and front and rear bumpers.

We’ve previously featured photos taken by Windsor Suen… and he’s one of our favourites.

It’s a wonderful shot that you can ‘reflect’ on how gorgeous the Jimny really is.

Windsor is from Brisbane’s northside and modestly describes himself as a “Hobby photographer”.

Well, we think that if he drives his Suzuki Jimny anywhere near as well as he drives his camera, then we’re going to see him in some pretty wild and interesting places.

 Cotswold Jimny

While Australians can walk into a Suzuki dealership and drive home relatively hassle-free in a Jimny, our friends in the UK have a very different experience. The little off-roader is no longer stocked there in the same way, meaning enthusiasts often have to wait for imported vehicles to arrive.

And for one diehard Suzuki enthusiast in the Cotswolds, the wait was only the start of the story. His Jimny, nicknamed “Gizmo” arrived in the UK by transporter in 2019

Many genuine Suzuki accessories sold in Japan, Russia and India never officially make it to UK dealers, forcing owners to import them privately at huge expense. Gizmo’s owner spent years hunting down factory parts from overseas suppliers and international dealerships to create one of the most unique Jimnys in Britain.

Gizmo’s claim to fame is a genuine illuminated Suzuki grille badge from the Japanese accessories catalogue, believed to be the only one fitted to a UK Jimny. At night, the badge glows softly as Gizmo cruises through the narrow lanes and honey-stone villages of the Cotswolds.

And unlike many modern builds designed for social media attention, Gizmo’s story is deeply personal.

Its owner has been working on Suzuki since 1979 and in the automotive trade since 1978. Over the decades he has owned everything from LJ80s and SJ410s to SJ413s and a JB43 Jimny he still drives today while servicing Suzuki throughout the Cotswolds.

Gizmo itself has become something of a local celebrity, regularly photographed around picturesque villages.

When it’s not exploring back roads, the Jimny accompanies its owner to a local heritage railway where he volunteers, while continuing a lifelong obsession with collecting Suzuki brochures, models and memorabilia from around the world.

Because this isn’t just another modified Jimny. It’s the result of decades spent around Suzuki’s, years spent sourcing impossible-to-find parts, and one owner determined to build the ultimate Jimny despite the challenges of owning one in the UK.

Back Door Stopper

While Jimny owners are used to strong local aftermarket support, a new genuine Suzuki accessory has now made its way to us — the “Back Door Stopper”.

It allows the rear door to open and lock into position in a single motion, making access much easier in tight spaces like garages, carparks or off-road camps. A small but very practical addition that shows Suzuki’s attention to everyday usability.

Maddy (@maddy.mengel) is a colour lving creative, who loves a good hike, camping under the stars and going on an adventure with Luna (her doggo). Maddy joined the Jimny community last July and has loved being part ot it! Her first modification was her custom artwork wrap which she made from scratch & she is driving a piece of artwork on wheels! It start conversations, puts a smile on the dial and brings colours onto the streets.

She has nicknamed her Jimny ‘confetti’ but it’s also adopted the name ‘rainbow’ and ‘jellybean’.

Her most memorable experience in the Jimny was learning to 4×4 on the beach and in the dirt.

Maddy thinks the most drool-worthy Jimny rigs is hers… she said she’s joking… is she?! She said there is so many, how is she meant to choose?!

On Maddy’s local drive bucket list is Mount Mee! And her local recommendation is Gordon Country – it has a beginner track for newbies to the 4×4 world and is also dog friendly!

Lego Jimny

The Lego Jimny idea came to Jacob instantly.

The first time he saw his Jimny fully loaded with mods and accessories, it reminded him of a Lego car he had as a kid. From that moment on, the Jimny was officially named “Lego” — and honestly, nothing else was ever going to fit.

The name makes perfect sense too. Like actual Lego, the Jimny is endlessly customizable. The roof platform alone has five different setups depending on the trip, while the rear can transform between touring, storage, and family-duty mode — including space for his son’s baby seat. It’s basically a life-sized Technic set with registration plates.

Jacob’s also quick to admit he can’t take much credit for the build itself. The team at Pride Auto and Nick from MegaJimny handled the hard work while Jacob specialised in the highly demanding role of buying more accessories.

But Lego wasn’t built just to look good parked at the servo. As a volunteer with the NSW State Emergency Service, Jacob regularly drives unlit country roads, and the lighting setup has already saved him from several unwanted close encounters with Australia’s wildlife.

And somehow, the mod list is still growing.

Before Lego tackles K’gari for the first time in August, more upgrades are already planned — because owning a Jimny apparently means developing a permanent and financially irresponsible addiction to accessories. There’s also a secret vinyl project in the works that promises to give Lego a fresh new look.
